Online divorce applications go live for all

HMCTS rolls out service nationwide following a successful pilot.

  • Anyone seeking a divorce can now make a full application online following an announcement that the pilot scheme has been opened up to all.

A test of 1000 applications over the past few months saw 91% of users say they were satisfied with the service, which now allows users to complete the required forms, make payments and upload supporting evidence. The pilot scheme also saw a 95% drop in the number of applications being returned because of mistakes, when compared with paper forms with only 0.6% of forms rejected since January.

The service was opened up nationwide on 1 May.
