New Jurisdictional Guidance published on media access to Family courts

Guidance seeks to help court staff

  • Her Majesty's Court Service has issued fresh guidance on media access to courts aimed at court staff faced with handling media enquiries.

    The Guidance has been written in consultation with court reporters and covers all courts, including the Family Court, as well as general issues.

    The Family Court guidance covers practical issues including

    • Queries from the press and media representatives
    • Courtroom seating
    • Cause lists and identifying open or closed hearings
    • Access to documents in family cases
    • Case details – provision of information about family cases
